Flex Joint Failure on the 1994-1996 Toyota Camry

I dissected the failed flex joint on my 1996 Camry to see what failed.

As you can see the Toyota Pipe has three layers of protection. All three layers have to fail before the pipe starts to leak.
It looks like a good design in my opinion.

I got about 96,000 miles out of my pipe before it failed.
