Stair lift Finger Pinch Points

Story:

Yesterday my mother got her finger caught and pinched in her Stairlift as she was rotating the chair.

I investigated to see if this could be a safety issue. Here is what I discovered.
1. Depending on how the user activates the lever, it is possible for a finger to get pinched while rotating the seat.

3. If the finger is pinched here, the sheering action could defiantly do some hard.
4. I would recommend fabricating a plate to cover the bottom of the exposed chair. I wouldn't be surprised if the plate/cover was just missing.
