Home Theater 2006!

Projector upgrade.

Plate 1 of 2 for the custom mount. 3 screws
attach the plate to the projector.

Close up of washer. Plate rotates on top
mount screw to allow the projector to be
positioned  left and right.

Top plate now attached. Screws on front and
not tightened thus allowing the plate to pivot.
The rear screws adjust the height of
projected image.
Nylon lock nuts are used everywhere!

Another side view

Rear view showing the sliders attached.   10 inch Sliders are attached. The sliders were
needed to get the projector 2 feet closer to the
screen. The projected image fits the 8 foot wide
screen with about an inch to spare!

Projector mounted the custom shelf. Note BIG
component video cable running to it.
The cable is 35 feet in length.
 http://www.Monoprice.com had pretty good
prices and decent cables.

  Projector shown extended

Back view showing the safety cable.
(Just in case!!)

Time to get serious and run some wires to the
projector! Flipped up the sofa and used it as a
work table.

Three boxes installed. From left to right:

Plate #1, HDMI plate also from
http://www.Monoprice.com.
The SVHS cable was run out of this plate
after the plate was modified.

Plate #2 (Middle) is for the component video.

Plate #3 is for power.

Almost finished wall plates! Plate #1 was not
quite straight. A slight tweaking of the
plate behind it corrected the problem.

Lower wall plate located directly under the three
upper plates. The box was used to fish the wires
up the wall and down a 1 inch hole to the basement.
The outlet was tapped into to supply power to
the upper outlet.

  Paige was over visiting.

(He's on permanent vacation on MV.)

Another 1 inch hole was drilled under the
radiator to allow the component video
cable to be fished up.

The HD receiver is shown on the floor.

At this point the shelf was painted and the sliders
attached
This is the top cover that drops into place over the
wires thus allowing things to be put on the shelf
to distract a viewers eye from seeing the projector.

The extra lengths of wire were held down with mini nylon cable clamps.

Another view. Note wires have white tape on
them to make them match the wall and
the projector.
Shelf with top inserted.   Top showing blocks used to set the height.

Cables secured to bottom of shelf.

Finally the shelf was re mounted to the wall studs.
Cables were connected!
Rear wiring. Note, the RGB connectors
were covered later.

Another view of the back.

Top of the shelf. Note surge suppressor added
to hopefully protect against who knows what.

DVD.   PS2 using S video cable.

  Wrapping up the project.

More demo video to come!
